Hi,
It has almost been a month since I sent you an email. I have been caught up with other things - only now I am getting back to my routine. My apologies.
However, thank you for your continued interest and support. I hope to make this a little more consistent than it is now.
Here is this week's newsletter...
Gratitude,
Sathya
1. 'Is there Scientific Proof that We can Heal Ourselves?' - TEDx Talk by Dr.Lissa Rankin
The answer is 'Yes'. In this revealing video (watched 2.2 million times), Dr.Lissa Rankin provides the scientific concept called 'Placebo' (and its opposite 'Nocebo') that indeed talks about how mind can cure our body. In fact his bestselling book is called 'Mind over Medication'.
This is especially so relevant given the recent Corona pandemic. Remember to appreciate the power of your thoughts and stay healthy! For yourself and for the community at large.
2. A Simple Law of Attraction Experiment: Setting Intentions
"Remember that the world around you reflects back to you your beliefs and expectations. You see what you want to see."
I am becoming a fan of LoA - importantly the power of our thoughts. While it is often dismissed as hocus-pocus, a sense of success with such small experiments can in fact prove to be life changing. It changed my life for sure. I highly appreciate to give yourself a benefit of doubt and try this experiment. You would be more than surprised.
3. 12 Different Types of Meditation ~ Eric Zimmer
"(Meditation) give us the ability to interact differently, more skillfully and more intentionally with our thoughts and feelings, thereby completely changing the way we experience them."
I cannot, but overstate the importance of meditation. However, a beginner might be confused by the plethora of techniques that is available, proposed by different schools of religion and philosophy. Eric Zimmer has done an excellent curation of such techniques with a detailed explanation for a practitioner to appreciate and adopt that which suits him/ her.
4. The Goal Achievement Method ~ by Mark Forster
"... the problem with the traditional methods of goal setting is that they encourage us to use our rational minds but ignore deeper levels of mental processing. They also ignore the fact that it is our feelings that are the primary motivators in our lives."
This is excerpt from the book called 'How to Make Your Dreams come True', by Mark Forster. I have been devouring this book - studying it and implementing its methods in my life with astonishing results. The 'Goal Achievement' method is one of the 3 prominent techniques that Mark recommends. I highly recommend to read it and try it out at least for once. It could be life changing :)
5. A Stress-free Way to Journal: Scatter Mapping
"This is one of the very simplest and most stress-free methods of journaling I've found."
I have been on and often using Mindmapping. But it never seemed to stick for a variety of reasons. Apparently, Mark Forster also seem to have faced a similar problem. He created what he calls 'Scatter Mapping' - a much better alternative. BevC from Mandala Stress Relief uses this in conjunction with mandala colouring as a journaling technique and a stress relief method.
